Bible Reading for: May 21

Psalms 5, 38, 41-42

David said, “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you.” Are you like David? Do you thirst for God?

What is your relationship with God like? Do you only go to Him when you want something? Do you only go to Him when you are hurting or in need? Do you go to Him out of a sense of guilt, duty, or “payback”? If so you are not living in right relationship with God. What does right relationship with God look like? David gives us a sense of this in the 42nd Psalm.

Psalm 42:1-2 ESV
“As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?”

Do you “pant” for God? Do you “thirst” for God? Are you eager to come before Him and rest in His divine presence? Do you desire to be in His presence just for the joy of being there; for the regenerative enrichment being with Him provides? Do you desire things, or do you desire Him? That is an important question. I hope your answer is Him!
