End Time Debate
The moment I read about Gog and Magog I was reminded of the end time prophecies of Revelation. There is a big battle coming in the future and it is going to be one major knockdown-drag-out fight to the finish even though the outcome is a foregone conclusion. The purpose of this battle, however can be found in yesterday’s reading.
Ezekiel 38:23 ESV
“So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”
God is all about this right relationship stuff. It has been the point of everything God has done through the history of human kind. He intends to make Himself know so that all will know that He is Lord. From the moment Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden this end time battle has been coming. The end is coming: the moment when God will reconcile to Himself all that are His.
Ezekiel 40 begins a vision of a rebuilt temple. As we read subsequent chapters we will see that temple sacrifice will be reinstated. Up-coming verse seem to imply temple sacrifice after Christ’s return. The challenge here is that we know Jesus Christ is the “once and for all” final sacrifice so why is God saying that in the end times the sacrificial system will be reinstituted? I don’t want to get too far ahead of our reading here and I definitely need to do some reading of scholarship on these chapters so I’m not putting an uninformed and misleading idea out there. I’m worried I’m already way off track.
That said, I thought I would pass along some interesting information from our current day. We all know that at some point in end time prophecy the temple will be rebuilt and temple sacrifice will resume. Did you know that there is a group of Orthodox Jews living in Israel today that have already created all of the items necessary to furnish the rebuilt temple and institute temple sacrifice? I think they may also have a “building fund” accumulating in anticipation.
The only thing holding the reconstruction of the temple back is the situation of the Dome of the Rock on top of the very site where the temple would need to be built. I wonder what could remove that particular obstacle don’t you?
Guys, I know you are all busy and it is enough of a challenge just to try and be in the Word every day, but I know many of you have studied some of this prophecy so please share your thoughts. This could become a very lively and interesting conversation.
Have a blessed day guys!
Have a blessed day!
Your brother and servant in Christ,
Dying to self, living to serve!
